From apps for the kids to the latest Temple Run-inspired free-to-play third-person endless runner, there are some great new iOS titles to choose from.

About an hour from now, at 11pm (EST) the new iOS releases should start flooding onto the App Store.

This week my most recommended pickups from the list below are probably: One Epic Knight because it looks like fun and it’s FREE, so it’ll cost you nothing to give it a go. Supermagical (which is actually already available on the app store NOW) is a very strong bet given the polish and support its developers, Super Mega Awesome Hyper Dimensional Team gave their last title. And for logic puzzle fans…The Curse which interweaves a narrative among the traditional brainteasers.

Check out trailers for all my recommended picks below and let me know which of these titles you’ll be picking up.

Universal

One Epic Knight
Simutronics Corp

Free

The latest title in the popular free-to-play first-person endless runner genre, One Epic Knight takes on Medieval theme as you make your way through dungeons collecting treasure and avoiding traps (like humongous swinging blades).

Universal

Cosmic Colony
Gameloft

Free

Gameloft takes the social world building sim genre to the cosmos in their latest free-to-play title, complete with minigames. While it is not really my cup of tea, I’m sure this will be pretty appealing to a number of you.

Universal

Supermagical
Gala Pocket Inc.

99¢

The Super Mega Awesome Hyper Dimensional Team has been assembled once again. Following up their quirky hit, Pro Zombie Soccer, with this graphically appealing and familiar feeling marble popper / adventure game that is 14+ months in the making. Apparently it offers between 15 and 20 hours worth of gameplay, so you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck. Also a free update adding iCloud support as well as a Coop Multiplayer mode is also in the works.

Universal

The Curse
Toy Studio LLC

99¢

Players must try to solve a collection of 100 different logic puzzles ‘ranging from simple cipher riddles to mind-bending conundrums’ an as the game progresses players are treated to voice-acted cut-scenes in which Mannequin will appear to taunt you with mild tricks and insult your intelligence. The game is like Disney’s Haunted Mansion meets a logic puzzle book. It falls into a similar vein as The Heist.

Universal

Bug Invasion
Bulkypix

99¢

The battle lines have been drawn…on your kitchen table. Like a junkie looking for a fix, General Cockroach wants to get at your sugar bowl and it’s up to you to stop the infestation invasion by setting up your defenses made from common household items.

Universal

One Tap Hero™
Chillingo Ltd

99¢

This is a pretty adoreable looking puzzle platformer with a universal one-touch control system to accomplish anything from climbing ladders to jumping flipping switches.

iPhone

Toybox
Barrel of Donkeys

99¢

Multitaskers its time to pwn. You’ll have to get both halves of your brain working as you take down enemies with one finger on the vertical platformer on the left side of your screen and match colored blocks with another on the right-side of your screen.

Universal

Mikey Shorts
BeaverTap Games, LLC

99¢

Mikey Shorts is retro a throwback to the 8-bit days of the NES and Sega Master System. With a left/right dpad and jump/duck buttons you’ve got to collect coins, avoid the baddies, collect coins rescue your friends. Coins can be used to purchase items to change the look of your character and the whole thing is set to a retrotastic chiptunes soundtrack.

iPhone

Lost Cities
TheCodingMonkeys

$3.99

Lost Cities is a port of the popular physical card game (of the same name) by Reiner Knizia and comes to you from the makers of Carcassonne for iOS. I’ve never played the original, but it looks quite good, plus you can play against AI player or online against your Game Center friends. I couldn’t find a trailer for the iOS game, so below is actually a tutorial on how to play the actual card game on which the iOS game is based.

iPad

Equator – 2 player problem solving math puzzle game
Tigerface Games

$3.99

The first of two educational game apps for kids that Tigerface Games is releasing tonight, Equator encourages problem solving as two players work together to make the same total value using different sets of numbers.

Universal

SP Cat PRO / SP Mole PRO – math with friends for the collaborative classroom

The second of Tigerface Games’ apps, Smash Party, comes in two different flavors, one for kids aged 5-6 (Cat) and one for kids aged 6-7 (Mole). It is a collection of four mini-games for up to four players (once again working as a team). The games teach rhyming of words, spelling, number patterns and sums. It looks like a fun one for the kiddos.
