Embark upon a breathtaking journey through the Pacific Northwest. Explore new habitats and discover the animals who live there as you compete to cultivate the perfect ecosystem!

It was just over a week ago that Dire Wolf Digital launched the mobile version of Clank! and they are already releasing another new title…well…into early access.

Dire Wolf Digital’s PC port of Flatout Games’ Spiel des Jahres-winning nature-themed token drafting board game, Cascadia, has just been released into Steam Early Access.

Steam Early Access allows players purchase and play the game while it is still in development. This is often a critical way for developers to get valuable end-user feedback and find bugs prior to the official release.

What Is Cascadia about?

In Cascadia, players take turns building out their own area of the Pacific Northwest, by placing hexagonal terrain/habitat tiles and then populating them with wildlife. On your turn you must choose a one of the available habitat tile (which is paired with a wildlife token), then place that tile adjacent to your existing ones and place the wildlife token on an appropriate habitat.

Each type of wildlife has a unique scoring scenario, based on being placed in a specific pattern or quantity. Players also earn points for contiguous areas of the same habitat, so tile placement is key to maximize your points.

I finally got a chance to try the physical game during one of the Tabletop tournaments at PAX East earlier this year and I had a blast, so I’m thrilled to see a digital release coming (especially from Dire Wolf).

Right now the game is only available in early access on the PC, but as per Dire Wolf’s other digital releases, you can expect a multi-platform mobile release to follow shortly after the official release on Steam.

Cascadia Digital offers many new ways to play and explore, on your own or with friends:
