Earlier today, North Star Games posted on their blog, that the Kickstarter campaign for the digital adaptation of their award-winning strategy game, Evolution will be launching next Wednesday, August 9th.
You may recall that I was quite excited about this digital adaptation after playing an early build at PAX East this year. Well now NSG is just wrapping up their Alpha testing with over 1500 participants and are now ready to bring the project to Kickstarter. They’ve said that playtester comments regarding things like UI, AI difficulties, tutorial length and art have been very helpful toward refining and enhancing the game.
Aside from a great digital port, Kickstarter backers can also look forward to “some digital goodies like beta access at the close of Kickstarter campaign, exclusive avatars and private tournaments, and physical rewards including the Evolution board game and new watering hole mousepad”.
The game already looked pretty darn solid when I played it in March so I’m rather excited to see how it’s come along since then. There are a number of additional features that NSG is hoping to include and that’s where the crowdfunding campaign comes into play.
If you are going to be attending either Gen Con and/or PAX West, then you’ll be able to demo the digital release at either of these shows. You can also demo many of North Star Games’ tabletop titles, including the upcoming Wits & Wagers ‘Vegas’ expansion (also coming to Kickstarter soon).
Best of all, show attendees will have a chance for even more Evolution swag. Show attendees who back the Evolution Kickstarter on-site (during either show) will walk away with a special Evolution gift, while supplies last.
So make sure to check out the Kickstarter Campaign next week and visit one of the North Star Games booths if you are going to either Gen Con (booths 2019 and 1803) or PAX West (booth 7609).
