Earlier this year, Playdek announced that they would be partnering with Wizards of the Coast to “develop and publish Wizards popular tabletop games for iOS platforms”.
Now they’ve just released the first trailer for their digital version of Wizards’ 2012 Dungeons & Dragons board game Lords of Waterdeep.
Lords of Waterdeep is a strategy board game for 2-5 players. You take on the role of one of the masked Lords
of Waterdeep, secret rulers of the city. Through your agents, you recruit adventurers to go on quests on your behalf, earning rewards and increasing your influence over the city.Expand the city by purchasing new buildings that open up new actions on the board, and hinder—or help—the other lords by playing Intrigue cards to enact your carefully laid plans.
Playdek’s release will feature both the online and offline game play “that you have come to expect from Playdek” and the game should be available sometime later this month (the official release date is still TBA).
Aside from the trailer below, on Monday, November 11, Playdek will begin a Fan Q&A session on their Facebook page, allowing fans to post a questions directed to the Art, Programming and QA teams working on the game. So make sure to check Facebook page on Monday for more details. Responses to fan questions will be posted there as well the following Monday.
Stay tuned for more news and updates about Lords of Waterdeep as we get them.
The trailer below will give you a sneak peek at the digital gameplay and if you want to compare that to how physical game plays, you can also check out this episode of Wil Wheaton’s web series TableTop.
