Starting with the freebies, Electronic Arts launches a new free-to-play Simpsons-themed game called The Simpsons™: Tapped Out. It is a city building game that lets players create their very own Springfield! I have a feeling Simpsons fans are gonna flip over this one!
Originally a WiiWare title, Akaoni Studio’s Zombie Panic in Wonderland Plus drops players into a hoard of amorous zombies, invading all your favorite fairytale kingdoms and it’s up to you to stop them with a storm of gunfire and grenades!
Who would have thought that Dracula could look as cute as he does in smuttlewerk interactive’s new endless runner, Nosferatu – Run from the Sun. Looking for some good old physics-based fun, then why not take the laws of gravity into your hands and help rescue the Furrie little Boos in DIGITAL POKE LABS’ The Drop Out.
Chillingo releases two new titles this week, the first of which is Fancy Pants. Based on the popular Flash game series, Fancy Pants is a hand-drawn style platformer which has players trying to help Fancy Pants Man rescue his little sister, Cutie Pants, from “the worst pirates ever”. Featuring loads of unlockables, this is a fun looking little casual title. Also from Chillingo is the next title in Cobra Mobile’s successful iBomber game series, iBomber Defense Pacific. In this latest outing, players attempt to secure territory on the Pacific Rim with “all-new tactics, all-new strategies, all-new Maps, all-new weapons, and all-new enemies”.
Looking for some retro platformer-style gaming? Well then you may want to check out the new releases from The Rotting Cartridge and Secret Base. Kale In Dinoland, developed by SkySoft, is a faithful (widescreen) “revamp” of (a fictitious) 1992 Gameboy release “Kale In Dinoland”. With a remastered soundtrack and joypad support, this looks to be a must-have title for retro gamers. Tobe & Friends Hookshot Escape is a spin off of the original Tobe’s Vertical Adventure released last year on Steam. It is a endless high-scoring platformer where you attempt to climb as high as possible, collecting diamonds, treasures and power-ups as you go. The coolest part is that there are four unlockable playable characters, each of which offers a truly unique play style. This one is a definite pickup as well!
Last but not least we have a a few final notable new Thursday releases: there is the interesting looking adventure-puzzler Incoboto which developer Fluttermind says is “in the spirit of Portal and Ico“. AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (Force = Mass x Acceleration) from developers Owlchemy Labs (Snuggle Truck) and Dejobaan Games is the iOS port of the popular immersive first-person base jumping PC title that was all the rage at PAX East 2010 and which has a really long title that wreaked havoc on my nice table of icons below. Waking Mars is an action adventure game of discovery, based on the red planet, from Tiger Style the makers of Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor. Pindilab’s Invader Hunter is a space-themed first-person shooter featuring nearly 100 weapons and a soundtrack by Korean rock band, No Brain which according to the developer, “makes this game perfect”. How can you argue with perfection?!
Which of these titles will you be picking up?
