New Toronto-based indie development studio Little Guy Guys, has just launched their debut game, Battle Blasters. It is a 1 on 1 arcade-style futuristic fighting game.

It’s the year 3042 and the ultimate form of entertainment is the Battle Blasters tournament which pits the world’s best fighters against each other in gun-blasting death matches. Take control of a roster of futuristic combatants trained in the art of armed conflict. To succeed you will need to determine your opponent’s fighting style, avoid their attacks and unleash your own devastating specials and combos.

Battle Blasters offers players a variety of game modes including:

  • Campaign Mode – Battle your way through a series of opponents across three difficulty levels. Unlock Supreme difficulty to compete against the elite Battle Blasters fighters.
  • Multiplayer – Compete egainst friends in 1-on-1 battles on the same device.
  • Quickplay – Hone your skills against any fighter in the Battle Blaster tournament.

You can boast about your fighting prowess, and see how you stack up against your family and friends by posting your high scores to a Facebook leaderboard.

While we haven’t actually tried Battle Blasters yet, we like what we see from the initial screenshots and gameplay video. Depending on the available weapons/combos, this looks like it could be a fun little one-on-one arcade shooter to pass the time while waiting in line. The game is available now in the iTunes App Store for $2.99.
