After last week’s rush of iOS 7 and E3 news, it was fun to sit down with Carter Dotson on The Portable Podcast and discuss one of the new features of iOS 7 that was never discussed in the keynote, the new API that Apple is providing to developers to officially support external game controllers.
With industry heavyweights like Logitech and MOGA (who is responsible for arguably the best mobile Android controller currently available) rumored to already be hard at work on their own MFi-certified iOS game controller accessories, it seems Apple may finally be acknowledging that if they are going to completely dominate the mobile gaming market, that they need to give gamers the option for physical, tactical controls.
Could an official Apple standard mean less fragmentation and more supported games?
Listen and enjoy.
