Another busy week for the app store. In fact I could probably do entire post about just Thursday alone which saw a monster number of BIG releases come out. I’m going to try a new format this week and break things down by day.

Magic Cube got the week rolling with the release of Aero Master, their fun, top-down dog-fighting aerial shooter.

Monday saw the release of ALK Technology’s all-new CoPilot Live navigation Apps for the iPhone and iPad. Both of which offer a massively improved GUI and a whole host of new features, as well as special low prices which are good through the weekend.

Tuesday brought us a splash of color. SkyVu Pictures launched an all new title in their popular Battle Bears series, this time called Battle Bears BLAST, where you must slide one finger around to blast away hordes of HUGGABLES out to hug you to death! Streaming Colour Studios released Baby’s Musical Hands, a musical toy for babies and toddlers for the iPad which consists of 15 brightly colored squares that when touched by your child will make various drum, piano and guitar sounds. It looks like a great interactive early learning toy for kids.

Wednesday saw the much anticipated release of Hothead Games’ freemium iOS strategy card game, Kard Combat ™ which was co-designed by Richard Garfield, the creator of the insanely popular Magic: The Gathering. Cory Games released a new game in the “Time Geeks” franchise titled Time Geeks: Cloneggs This one is a matching game with the same cool 8-bit pixel art style and a cool system of Cloneggs Cards, each of which contains a QR code which can be scanned it to unlock one of over 200 characters.

And at last we come to a busy busy busy Thursday, which saw the release of 3 additional Chillingo published titles including: Quiz Climber, a social quiz game, developed by Relentless Software, that lets you see how well you stack up against you Facebook friends. It is available in both a FREE and 99¢ (ad-free) paid version. Blobster (which comes from developer Divine Robot) is a platformer in which you can collect special power ups that will cause you to shrink, grow, or even launch yourself around. Like most Chilling titles, Blobster is available in both iPhone and iPad-specific releases. Finally, KadaMedia, a developer which has published a number of titles under Chillingo’s banner, released Hungry Chicks. It is a physics-based puzzle game featuring everyone’s favorite Birds with HUGE eyes. It too is available in separate iPhone and iPad releases.

Next is the latest digital toy from Toca Boca called Toca Robot Lab. These guys once again show that they certainly know what kids like, because my daughter is absolutely obsessed with this title, where she gets to build and then fly her very own robot. Crescent Moon Games finally released their highly anticipated dual-stick dungeon crawler, Pocket RPG. Then there were a couple of “racing” games that completely caught me by surprise, Reckless Getaway and Xtreme Wheels. Reckless Getaway is from Polarbit, the same development team that brought you the incredible Reckless Racing game. However, this time around it is a race to escape the cops as you try to elude capture after pulling a bank heist. Xtreme Wheels is a “Trials”-inspired biking game from Bravo Games, the studio behind the hit game Touch Racing Nitro.

Finally, rounding out Thursday’s impressive list of new releases is a fun jousting game from Alawar Entertainment called Shake Spears!, which features some leveling aspects through magic spells to keep things interesting. Gameloft’s GTA-ish shooter 9mm and the Mirror’s-Edge like Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty from Marvel and Disney Interactive also arrived on the App Store, the latter of which I am nearly finished reviewing and would advise caution.

Friday saw the re-launch of a popular physics-based puzzle game, Firerfly Hero, under a new publisher, Outfit7. I’m not sure what this means to previous owners of the game as Apple treats this as an entirely new app.
