It’s been a long time coming, but finally after almost a year of waiting, and an iPad release, Mirror’s Edge has finally found it’s way to the iPhone platform. Based on the character and world created in hit console game of the same name, Mirror’s Edge has you taking on the role of Faith Connors. She’s an underground ‘Runner’ who must “bolt into action to stop a deadly threat in a ‘perfect society’ full of sinister surveillance and relentless pursuers”. Unlike it’s 3D first-person console counterpart, the iPhone release is 3rd person side-scrolling action platformer where you must run up walls, slide down ramps, ride zip lines, and hurdle between rooftops using a series of simple gestures on the screen. The game features 14 levels with increasing difficulty.

FASTER. BETTER. BRIGHTER. DESIGNED JUST FOR iPHONE 4!

The award-winning action-adventure has been made to maximize the visual intensity available with the iPhone 4 Retina Display. Experience the cutting-edge in iPhone gaming. It will leave you breathless.

EXPERIENCE THE VISCERAL POWER OF THE RETINA DISPLAY

Specifically envisioned for the iPhone 4 Retina Display, the vivid HD quality delivers breathtaking visual clarity as you pound through a stunning cityscape flooded with realistic sounds, a pulsating soundtrack, and dynamic camera angles. You’ve never seen or felt an iPhone game quite like this.

The folks at TouchArcade are reporting that the game plays nearly identical to the one they got some hands-on time with last December. I suspect we’ll never know the true reason for the long delay, but at this point, who cares, just enjoy the ride. You can purchase Mirror’s Edge for the iPhone for $4.99.
