After a few hiccups earlier this morning, apple.com appears to be back in business for taking your iPhone pre-order. As previously rumored, it appears those of you wanting a white iPhone will not be able to partake in the pre-order fun. Apparently I was one of the lucky ones and found the process to be pretty quick and painless. After much debate, I opted to do the in-store pickup option to save sales tax and get the full launch day feel (a decision that I will most likely regret).
To pre-order your iPhone 4, simply follow this link and you’ll get the option to either pick up your device in an apple store or you can have it shipped to your home for free, with guaranteed release-date delivery. If you choose the in-store option, you may be asked to select a day/time of pickup and you’ll have until close of business on that day to pickup the order, otherwise it’ll go back to gen pop. Is anyone really not going to pick to get it on June 24th??? For this option, no money down was required, and it said that you’ll need to bring the following items when you pick up your phone:
- A valid, government-issued photo ID
- Your Social Security number
- A debit or credit card
Will any of our wonderful readers also be waiting in line at the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH next Thursday morning?
UPDATE: It appears that many people are still having issues placing their pre-orders. The issue occurs when the system has to authenticate with the AT&T servers. According to a couple of tweets by @DazeEnd “Standing in AT&T store trying to place a pre-order. It’s not just home users w/ probs. AT&T is having problems placing orders in-store too.” and “AT&T store has given up and is now taking iPhone 4 pre-orders with pen & paper. I’m not sure I completely trust their new system.” it looks like the problem extends to pre-orders directly from AT&T as well. AT&T-haters get your pitchforks and axes ready….
