Roxley Games has posted a “launching soon” page for an upcoming Kickstarter campaign to support the development of a digital version of their super-popular dice and card-driven combat game featuring a growing cast of unique, asymmetrically powered heroes.
The campaign page just says “Help decide if Dice Throne digital becomes a reality”, followed by the typical option to follow the campaign and be notified when it launches.
Right now, I don’t know any specifics on the campaign yet. There is no information with regards to which gaming platforms will be supported, which of the many heroes will be included, etc.
Though, if I had to hazard a guess, I suspect the game will first launch on Steam via Early Access, followed shortly on mobile platforms (like many other Kickstarted digital board games).
I doubt that the Marvel characters will be included in any digital release due to possible licensing complications. Instead, I suspect that Roxley will launch with their own home-grown heroes, perhaps a mix of the more popular heroes from both seasons of the physical game.
While I’ve only demoed the game a couple of times at PAX East, I am really looking forward to a digital release as I am more likely to be able to play. Hopefully the Kickstarter will be successful and the game will come to iOS as well (my digital board game platform of choice).
We’ll be sure to keep you posted once the Kickstarter campaign launches, but in the meantime you can also provide your email on Roxley’s website to get on a mailing list for more info.
