App development and publishing company PlayDate Digital and media publisher Shout! Factory have just announced a new collaborative effort to bring My Little Pony Friendship is Magic fans more stories and media across multiple platforms.
Yesterday PlayDate released My Little Pony: Cutie Pox, their eighth My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic interactive storybook app.
It recounts the adventure told in the sixth episode of the second season of the TV series. Apple Bloom, one of the three young members of the Cutie Mark Crusaders (along with Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo) is impatient, and frustrated that she still hasn’t gotten her cutie mark and wants to discover her special talent. She gets afflicted with an ancient, mysterious and incurable? disease called the Cuite Pox. Can she find a cure? Will She ever get Her cuite mark? Besides being impatient…what IS her special talent?
The app aims to teach children reading, vocabulary and patience through an entertaining and interactive Pony adventure.
If you haven’t tried out any of PlayDate Digital’s My Little Pony apps yet, you should, as they are well made and feature nice animations, interactivity and voice work. My daughters, the 5 year-old especially, really enjoy these apps and revisit them quite regularly.
My Little Pony: Cutie Pox is available in the App Store now for $2.99.
To coincide with PlayDate’s app, next month, Shout! Factory Kids will be releasing, My Little Pony – Friendship Is Magic: Adventures Of The Cutie Mark Crusaders, a DVD which collects five episodes from the TV series featuring those lovable Cutie Mark Crusaders.
Included on the DVD are:
- “The Cutie Mark Chronicles” (season 1, episode 23)
- “The Cutie Pox” (season 2, episode 6)
- “Flight to the Finish” (season 4, episode 5)
- “Pinkie Pride” (season 4, episode 12)
- “Twilight Time” (season 4, episode 15)
There are also a couple of bonus features including a Sing-Along and printable coloring pages (which are always a big hit in our house).
My Little Pony – Friendship Is Magic: Adventures Of The Cutie Mark Crusaders is being released on Feburary 24th and can currently be pre-ordered from Amazon for $9.99 w/ free Prime shipping.
Make sure you keep an eye on PlayDate Digital and Shout! Factory’s social media channels because as part of this new collaboration they will be hosting periodic contests and offering value-added bonus material.
