IGN has an excellent iOS freebie for the month of January, Ubisoft’s engaging episodic game, Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
Inspired by letters from World War I, this compelling puzzle adventure game feels more like an interactive animated graphic novel as it drops you into the boots of several different individuals during the events of the war. You get to experience four heroes’ stories and immerse yourself in both tender and heartbreaking moments of the war.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a 4-part, episodic game. The initial app (normally $4.99, but which you are getting for FREE) includes Episode 1. Episodes 2-4 are available as multipack ($8.99) or individual episode ($3.99) in-app purchases.
- Move into action and help your heroes survive the Great War by solving puzzles or sneaking through enemy lines…
- Lost in a maze of trenches, play each of these characters and help a young German soldier find his love! All of them will be helped by their faithful canine companion, Walt.
- This fictitious story takes you back to famous WWI locations, revisiting historical battles on the Western Front, such as the Battle of the Marne or the Battle of the Somme!
