screen-shot-2013-03-14-at-4-00-58-pmEvery once in a while I like to take a stroll through Kickstarter to see if there are any interesting looking iOS-related products and games and I’ve recently come across the following four games which could use a little support and attention if they are going to meet their funding goals.

These aren’t necessarily iOS exclusives, but iOS versions could be dependent on successfully accomplishing their funding goals.

Bolt Riley – A Reggae Adventure Game

This nicely illustrated point-and-click adventure game puts you in the role of Bolt Riley, “a poor boy from Trenchtown, Jamaica, on his pathway to stardom”.

“Bolt is struggling to survive and has to deal with a gang of Rude Boys. You go through a journey of self discovery, of love, friendship, and inspiration, where you are introduced to Reggae music, you have to form your band, get inspiration, write and produce your songs and then perform them. The story consists of three parts each focusing on a different aspect of Bolt Riley’s passage into becoming a Reggae legend.”

The game, which will be developed as three independent chapters, was co-designed by Corey and Lori Cole (who created Sierra’s classic ‘Quest for Glory’ series). They had me at Sierra…I LOVED these games as a kid! This looks like fun, but they’ve got a ways to go to reach their impressive $120k funding goal.

Dwarven Delve – An Action Puzzle Crawl with a Twist

According to the developers, “Dwarven Delve sits somewhere between an action dungeon crawl and a light puzzle game”, and that’s why they are calling it an action puzzle crawl.

Players try to race through the dungeon which they themselves are constantly changing and which they can even use to their advantage to kill the monsters, pitting them against their own dungeon. It looks like a promising mashup with a nice risk/reward element.

Fright Fight: Online Multiplayer Fighting for Mobile

A “‘Smash Bros’ style online multiplayer brawler featuring horror, steampunk, RPG elements… and zombies!”, Fright Fight looks like it will be quite an entertaining title.

Fright Fight features characters from a number of different realms and like the SB, each fighter will have unique attack types, combos and skills. Players will be able to connect with up to 3 other players from around the world, and compete in 4 player battles. It will also support cross-platform play allowing you to compete against your friends regardless of their choice of device.

The game will be free-to-play when it launches on iOS On iOS and utilize a unique gesture control system. I’m not sure if this completely rules out the possibility of external iOS game controller support in the future.

As a fan of Super Smash Brothers, I’ll certainly be keeping a close eye on this multiplayer brawler. I really hope they can pull this one off.

The Manhattan Project – Digital Edition

While I’m not familiar with Minion Games’ well-reviewed worker-placement tabletop game, a digital version is pretty appealing to me and a cheaper barrier to entry for me to try it out.

“The Manhattan Project is a low-luck, mostly open information efficiency game in which players compete to build and operate the most effective atomic bomb program. Players will mine yellow cake, train workers, operate factories, use both reactors and enrichment plants, direct espionage against one another, and test The Bomb.Players do not “nuke’ each other, but they can direct conventional air strikes against the facilities of the other players. The Manhattan Project is a game of Cold War posturing.”

The iOS backer rewards show a March 2014 delivery date, so I suspect the game is due to be released around then.

The Incredible Corpse (Stealth/Action) for Mobile/Tablet

“The Incredible Corpse is a mission-based game that incorporates stealth-play, action and tricky timing puzzles.”

The Incredible Corpse utilizes a touch & draw control system which allows players to “take out aliens, avoid traps, eat brains, hang out with your undead girlfriend, and be an ass-kicking zombie hero.

The game is divided into chapters that are composed of missions that go around the world and even above Earth. Aliens and many other enemies await you at these guarded locations. Your goal is to recover Earth’s brains, blow up alien bases and save humanity.”

It features some nice looking comic book style artwork, but it has a long way to go to meet its fairly lofty $60k goal.
