Released right at the start of the year, Hello Games’ iOS version in the Joe Danger franchise continues to be one of the best examples of the way to take an existing console IP and bring it to mobile platforms in a native way that doesn’t feel forced or shoehorned.
Since launch, the game has taken off in popularity even more than the developers could have hoped and expected, if fact it is possible that it has even out-shined its console brothers. To date, players have cumulatively collected over eight billion in-game gold coins!
In a blog update that went up earlier today, Hello Games’ Sean Murray announced that they’ve just released an update to Joe Danger that adds iCloud support, so now you can sync your progress between all of your iOS devices. He explains that now “you can play on your iPhone then continue on your iPad, or vice versa”. Saves are automatically updated at the end of an event. Of course the new update also means that there are some bug fixes as well (every reported bug has been squashed to be precise).
Murray is the first to admit that the update has ” taken way longer than we expected to finish”, but that’s because they “got a bit excited adding a few new game mechanics, and now that has potentially become something far, far bigger. But it’s not quite ready yet”. In fact, over the next few weeks Hello Games plans to put a call out on their website to you, the players, for suggestions on upcoming content for the game including what new character you would like to see, new levels and more. They are “super excited to find out what crazy stuff you come up with. Also a bit scared!”.
If you already own Joe Danger, head to the App Store now to grab the free iCloud update, if you don’t own the game yet, then you can buy your copy now for $2.99.
You can check out a demo of the new iCloud support in the video below.
