Ontario-based developer, Big Blue Bubble Inc (Garters & Ghouls) just announced that they will be releasing Thumpies, an all-new rhythm-based matching game, in early February. The trailer video (included below) was a little cryptic, but it looks like you must bounce these odd-looking furry ball creatures around and collect butterflies. The game looks to have some nice, dark visuals and some catchy music. Big Blue Bubble claims that the game is suitable for all ages, but the Where The Wild Things Are-like creatures look like they could be a bit too scary for younger players. I guess we’ll find out more in a few weeks when the game is released.

Here is the offical word from Big Blue Bubble Inc

London, Ontario (January 13, 2010) – Big Blue Bubble Inc. announced today that Thumpies, an original beat matching game, will be release on iPhone in early February.

Who are the Thumpies? To tell you the truth we’re not quite sure but they’re cute, a little evil and love to make noise. Located in a strange land just south of the South Pole, these creatures seem to communicate through rhythmic patterns which the player must decipher.

Put your rhythm skills to the test and try to keep up with these fast flying lovable creatures and unlock new levels and new fascinating creatures along the way.
