Crescent Moon Games has announced they will be releasing their first racing game, an iOS exclusive called Slingshot Racing.

Developed by Snowbolt Interactive, the game will feature “revolutionary controls that are easy to pick up but difficult to master”. With stunning graphics (see the screenshots below), solo races against AI competitors, as well as a simultaneous multiplayer mode for up to 4 players on the same device (iPhone-included) and Game Center leaderboards, it sounds like it should be a lot of fun.

Concerned that so many payers trying to use the iPad at the same time would block the screen, I reached out to Snowbolt and Crescent Moon to find out more details on how the single-device simultaneous multiplayer would work. Here is what they had to say:

The same device multiplayer works well because the controls are so simple that people’s hands don’t get in the way (though on a phone it can get a bit cluttered). – Matthew Simper (Director, Snowbolt Interactive)

The controls are tap and release, as you go around turns, to grapple and sling your racer along. It’s a really unique setup, and totally addictive. So the screen isn’t blocked because of each pointer finger on the corners – not in the way of the gameplay. – Josh Presseisen (Founder and Creative Director, Crescent Moon Games)

Slingshot Racing, which is due out sometime in Q2 of this year, will be a universal app and while the first version of the game will not support any form of multi-device multiplayer, I was told that if their demand that they would definitely consider adding this feature in a major update.

Stay tuned for more details on this game in the future.
