pocket-trains_635931971_ipad_01There are a number of new App Store goodies headed our way tonight, so let’s get right into this…

From towers to planes and now trains…OH MY. NimbleBit takes their winning free-to-play construction formula to the rails as players attempt to build their own railroad empires in Pocket Trains. Make sure to check out the fun trailer on the second page of this post and enjoy your free time now before this inevitable addictive black hole sucks you in (in a good way) when it launches later tonight.

From publisher Crescent Moon Games comes Fading Fairytales, a free-to-play turn-based tactical RPG featuring some of your favorite fariytale characters. A mysterious evil dark force has corrupted the normally gentle and friendly fairytale folk, and it is up to fight to fix these fractured fairytales.

There is a charming looking digital book from Adarna House Inc. coming tonight called But That Won’t Wake Me Up!. Your young ones can join Maya and her Nanay as they try to think of ways to wake up early the next morning. There are interactive elements spread throughout the book and it is available at a special launch price of 99¢.

Speaking of interactive books, we also have an activity book for the upcoming animated motion picture Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 which opens in theaters this Friday. The app actually comes with StoryTime’s FREE Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Storybook (based on the original book/film) and the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Children’s Activity Book available via in-app purchase (behind a parental lock).

save-the-pencil-2_557128343_ipad_01Moving onto the paid apps, first we have a sequel to Perfect Dimension’s fun office-supply puzzle game, Save The Pencil 2. Help HB and his graphite-cored friends navigate 75 new levels by connecting the dots while avoiding rotating rulers paperclips and other evil office supplies. This time around we get a universal app with improved graphics, new characters, iCloud syncing between devices and a whole lot more.

Next up is Apple Dash a classic style platformer from Strange Flavour which (from the screenshots) almost reminds me of a mashup between Mr. Do!, and Load Runner (but I could be totally wrong about the gameplay as I couldn’t find a trailer). You help Dash save the bees, collect hats and attempt to unlock the “hidden moon boots and leap around like an astronaut”. There are two paid versions available, an iPhone release for 99¢ and a $2.99 universal release with “higher resolution, hand drawn, artwork and higher quality audio.

A little bit Super Hexagon, a little 3D endless runner, Boson X is a rotational runner which has players perpetually racing for their lives, while trapped inside of a massive particle accelerator. Using a series of single and double-finger taps, you must rotate your environment in an attempt to navigate your way through this twisting and turning world, being careful not to let the bottom drop out beneath you (quite literally).

trouserheart_685301907_ipad_0510tons Ltd is back, this time with something a little less off the wall, but still with that same humorous vibe. Trouserheart is a “pick up and play, hack’n’slash” game where you are the hero of the realm, dispatching monsters with the swipe of your mighty sword, collecting loot and deftly avoiding deadly traps. Upgrade your armaments and face off against ten unique bosses.

After their impressive debut with Ski Solitaire, it has been nearly two years since we’ve seen anything new on iOS from Greenfly Studios. Now they finally return to the App Store with Drop That Candy, a sugar-infused physics puzzle game in which you must “roll, tap, zap and match” colored pieces of candy to feed your pet Gizmo. Unfortunately the game is NOT a universal app and comes in separate iPhone and iPad releases, each of which will cost you $2.99, though there is iCloud support for syncing between devices.

shadowrun-returns_667026182_ipad_02Finally, that brings us to the most expensive new title of the night, Harebrained Schemes’ successfully Kickstarted 2D turn-based RPG, Shadowrun Returns. Based on the pen and paper sci-fi, fantasy, cyberpunk role-playing game first created 25 years ago, Shadowrun Returns made nearly 460% of its Kickstarter goal and was funded in just 24 days. The game looks very captivating and boasts a 12+ hour single-player campaign with “over 350 different weapons, spells and abilities”. I may not be personally familiar with the Shadowrun series, but Harebrained Schemes certainly has created a rather appealing looking game.

That’s all I have for you tonight, but keep your eyes open for a number of sales announcements happening tomorrow as well as a giveaway or two on Friday.

In the comments section below please let us know which of these games (or others) that you’ll be picking up tonight.
