490152130_512x512Today another popular board game gets a digital makeover thanks to Sage Board Games and Codito Development who bring the Ragnar Brothers’, A Brief History of the World to iOS.

A Brief History of the World takes players on a sweeping ride through the history of mankind, allowing users to control the decisions of major characters such as Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, or Napoleon Bonaparte through six riveting epochs in history. In this turn-based strategy game, lead your empire to victory and conquer the world!”

Sage Board Games are the folks responsible for bringing award-winning titles such as Tigris and Euphrates, Le Havre and Puerto Rico to iOS, so I think it’s safe to say that expectations are pretty high on this one. Plus there are over 150 plastic pieces included with the physical version, so this is much less time-consuming to set up and put away.

a-brief-history-of-the-world_490152130_ipad_04This turn-based strategy game arrives as a universal app, featuring the artwork and rules of the original Ragnar Brothers game. There is a detailed tutorial to get new players up and running quickly and both solo (w/ varying levels of AI) and both local and online multiplayer gameplay for up to 6 players.

Do you think you have what it takes to lead your armies into battle? Are you ready to step into the shoes of Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, or Napoleon Bonaparte? Step up to the table and lets find out.

The press release info we received for this title indicated that this game trends a bit more casual in comparison to the studio’s previously licensed titles. I have never played the original table top version, so I am eager to dig into this one myself.

A Brief History of the World is available now at a special 50% off launch price of $2.99 until August 5th, so if this interests you, grab it now. According to Sage Board Games’ blog, all of their other titles will be going on sale for 99¢ to celebrate the launch of this new title. Watch more detail on this if/when we see the prices drop.
