Surprise! Out of nowhere Warner Bros. released a previously unannounced iOS version of Scribblenauts Remix.

For some reason Warner Bros. kept this one really close to the vest. We got no press releases or advanced warning that there would be a Scribblenauts game coming to iOS.Ever since I saw the original Scribblenauts game announced for the DS, I thought the iOS platforms would be the perfect fit for such a title, but alas it was a Nintendo exclusive. Not being an owner of a Nintendo mobile gaming platform since the Gameboy Advanced XP, I sent tweets and emails begging for an iOS release, but they all went unacknowledged and unfulfilled.

So imagine my surprise and joy when I saw a $4.99 iOS Scribblenauts game appear on the App Store! I have wanted to try this imaginative game for so long and finally it’s just a tap away. In case you are unfamiliar with the game’s premise, it is a level-based game where you are trying to help the main character, Maxwell solve a puzzle. To do so, you simply use your imagination and creativity to think up whatever you want. You want him to have a ladder, or maybe use a time machine, well then make it so…type it and it becomes reality.

This release contains 40 of the most popular levels from the DS games Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts as well as 10 original (in-depth) levels exclusive to this iOS release. For those of you upgrading to iOS 5 (hopefully) in a few short hours from now, the game will support iCloud saving, allowing you to seamlessly switch between your iOS devices and pick up right where you left off.

Scribblenauts Remix has Game Center leaderboards and achievements as well as the ability to post to facebook and twitter. There is also an interactive sandbox mode known as the Playground where you can just experiment with the interface and creating objects for Maxwell to interact with.

The original DS game was met with RAVE reviews, so I cannot wait to finally try this one out for myself. Who knows, maybe if this does well, more of the original levels or all new levels may be offered in the future. Thanks 5th Cell Media and Warner Bros.!
