This week I decided to mix it up a bit and focus on just the 99¢ new releases, since this seems to be the magical impulse buy price. While I obviously have not necessarily had a chance to play each and every one of these titles, I’ve selected 10 titles, ranging in genre, that look like promising prospects.

A couple of last week’s studios, Chillingo and PlayFirst return again this week with another new release each. Chillingo’s Food Processing looks to be rather similar to fan-favorite Fruit Ninja, but with Chillingo’s track record of finding unique and addictive games, I’m hopeful that Food Processing can deliver a fresh food slicing experience. PlayFirst offers some feather flying castle defense action with it’s Egg vs. Chicken.

Are zombies more your thing? Well this week we’ve got you covered there as well. Black Orange Games has just launched a zombie-themed puzzle game called Puzzle of the Dead and Project Soul has released Zombie Sweeper, a defense action game chock full of zombies, blood, weapons and tasty brain matter. Like puzzles, but don’t like zombies, perhaps robots are more your style? Tatem Games’ RoboSockets combines elements of match 3 games, Tetris and pipe building to create a familiar, yet new experience. Rocket Home, by Tomatillo is a physics based puzzle game where you must help the Gluons get back to their spaceship by utilizing various construction materials to bridge any obstacles in their way. The fianal robot-themed game we have is Javier Lerones’ Trapped 3D, a stylized futuristic looking 3D logic-based puzzle game in which you need to rescue a little robot by guiding him towards each exit, avoiding various obstacles that will most certainly get in your way.

Let’s not forget about all of you arcade shooter fans. This week Colorbox launched Wave – Against every BEAT! It is an innovative concept where they took a neon arcade space shooter and generate all of the game’s action based on the beat/rhythm of the music playing. If you are as addicted to endurance running games as I am, then you’ll definitely want to consider Milk Drinking Cow’s cute looking Angry Rhino Rampage. Finally at the beginning of the week DigitalCoolio Inc launched Fun Fun Sports at the 99¢ price point, today it is free. Whether that’s a sign of quality or not, I’m not entirely sure. Either way, if you are into cartoony sports games with events like running, diving, archery and more, then you should definitely grab this one today, while it’s still free.

As always, please leave a comment below letting us know what new releases you picked up this week.
