While I’m not a PC gamer (since I have a Mac), I miss out on a lot of big PC titles. That said, several of my friends on Twitter are, so I hear about them. When I heard about Minecraft sucking everyone’s lives away, I became interested. When I learned that a game called Eden – World Builder was released for the iPhone and it was being called Minecraft-Lite, I was sure to check it out. Now, I’m wondering why.

No one ever told me what the point of Minecraft is, and now I’m really wondering. In Eden, you wander around blocky 3D worlds in the first person. Other than movement, you have three options: set a block on fire, remove a block, and add a block (of several different varieties). To be honest, I had no idea what to do. It took me a while to figure out that the game is nothing more than building a blocky world for yourself and/or destroying it. Other than that, this game doesn’t do anything else. As a plus, it allows you to save multiple worlds, and even upload them to a server for others to enjoy. You can also download worlds built by other people.

In Conclusion

There’s not a whole lot to say about this game. Even being an ALF (adult LEGO fan), I just couldn’t find much of a reason to keep “playing” it. The first person perspective makes it incredibly difficult to build anything that interesting and I just can’t see spending hours on this. I’ll take my good old, plastic, foot-killing LEGO bricks over this game any day.
