year-walk_555916407_ipad_01Perhaps the biggest and most highly-anticipated of tonight’s new releases is the latest effort from the Swedish development studio Simogo.

Known for creating slightly off-kilter titles, with fresh styles of play like Bumpy Road and Beat Sneak Bandit, this newest title seems to follow in that tradition. Year Walk is a first-person adventure game which “blurs the line between two and three dimensions as well as reality and the supernatural” as player get to experience the ancient Swedish phenomena of year walking. From the Bergman-esque preview trailers, it looks creepy, strange and even a little scary. I honestly can’t tell you much more than that because I’ve been avoiding any spoilers as the game has loads of mysteries to unlock and Simogo is also releasing a companion app tonight that acts as a sort of encyclopedia to learn more about the “mysterious myths and creatures encountered in the game”. I have no doubt that this game will be very polarizing among the iOS community.

Color Sheep comes to us from Trinket Studios, a new indie company out of Chicago made up of a trio of former Disney/Wideload Games(Guilty Party and Avenger’s Initiative: Hulk) developers. Their game is a fun looking, fast-paced color-mixing battle of sheep vs. wolves. The hero, Sir Woolson, is a sheep with a magical color-changing fleece that he uses to blast the hordes of color-stealing wolves with an incinerating laser blast.

hell-yeah!-pocket-inferno_596378302_ipad_02A surprise platformer is headed our way tonight, via SEGA and is an iOS port of the very popular PSN and XBLA title, Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit. In Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno, you play as Ash, a jetpack-wearing devil rabbit (who also happens to be the prince of Hell) in an action-packed side-scroller.

If you have young kids, then the iPad-only app, Puppet Workshop, might be the perfect creative outlet. Your child can choose from a variety of socks and gloves and then have fun transforming it into their very own puppet complete with eyes, nose, mouth and hair, etc.. It is available at a special launch price of 99¢ (reg $2.99), so I’m definitely going to be picking up this one for my girls tonight, I know they’ll get a kick out of this.

Chillingo is once again publishing two new games this week, the first of which is Cyto, a puzzle flinging game in a similar vein as some of Chillingo’s previous efforts (Swing King, Stretched) where you must guide the main character (Cyto) through the level collecting memory fragments and avoiding obstacles. The second game, The Gods: Rebellion, is a rich looking action combat game built on the Unreal Engine.

worm-run_569497239_ipad_02Worm Run is a proceduraly-generated endless runner/platformer where you must help hapless space miner, navigate a never-ending labyrinth, avoiding the hungry jaws of a GIGANTIC space worm. The game is entirely controlled via swiping motions and looks frenetic and fun.

Finally we come to West Legends. Loosely based on the classic 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West, West Legends is an action RPG game in which players control a party of up to 4 characters, battling monsters in real-time. The game features hand-drawn Manga-style animations, twelve original composed soundtracks, as well as four different worlds to explore encompassing 40+ levels and “boss battles of epic scale”.

As always, let us know which games you’ll be picking up tonight when these (and more) new releases go live at 11pm EST.
